St Helens Sutton league round up

IN the first match of the Upper YDL League St. Helens Sutton A.C. saw only seven athletes make the trip to Bury, but the team put in some great performances on what was a cold and very windy day.

In the U20 men Daniel Lamb ran the 100m in 11.1, long jumped 6.35m, high jumped 1.50m, then threw the shot putt 8.00m and ran in the 4x100 relay.

Daniel Dobson ran the 400m in 59.3 threw the shot putt 5.14m and also ran the 4x100 relay.

The U17 men saww Luca Noonan run a PB in 100m (11.9), the 200m in 24.9 (PB) putt the shot 8.21m and compete as an U20 to help make up the in 4x100 relay team. Michael Brussels who ran the 1500m in 4.58.2 then ran the 3000m in 10.51 (PB) and also threw the javelin 15.23m and ran as an U20 in the 4x100 relay where they finished in 3rd place in 51.1.

The U17 women were Alyx Bridge who ran the 300m in 51.3, (PB) the 800m in 2.57.9 and threw the javelin 7.98m, Lara Wilson who ran the 300m in 51.6 and the 800m in 2.54.8 and Jessica Durance who ran the 200m in 30.8, long jumped 3.26m and also threw the discus for the first time. We also had one U20 female athlete, Elizabeth Wright who won the 400m in 63.1.

Saturday also saw Collette Flaherty take on her toughest and yet most scenic marathon yet, thanks to a special invite to compete at the Ras-Y-Brenin marathon on Bardsey Island, Wales, running 5 hours 55, for what was a tough course with an elevation of over 3,000ft.
