ST HELENS Strider Kelly Hamilton wore purple this weekend as she travelled to Prestwold Hall, Loughborough to represent Merseyside in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships.

One of eight Merseyside athletes chosen to represent the county, Kelly embraced the mud bath one last time in the last cross country race of the season.

Meanwhile, Strider Eric Ranson took part in the Irwell Valley 20 Mile Race in Prestwich, Manchester as part of a test run before his second marathon of the year in April.

Eric completed the 20 mile trail race in 2:44:14 and came 9th in his age category.
