IT was a cross country finale to remember for St Helens Tri last week as Eddie Hirst led the team home to their best ever league finish.

Michael Forber secured the club championship for which he was honoured along with ladies champion Myka Heard at the awards night, who also won the female triathlete of the year title.

In addition Che Heard scooped multiple prizes including Young Triathlete of the Year and the Most Improved award while Emma Austin, Sarah Taktak and Harriet King took home the junior prizes and Mark Turner and Steve Williams were honoured for their age group successes at home as well as their top 10 performances in the ITU World Championships. Diane Taktak rounded off the weekend in fine style at the Stockport Trail Half Marathon where she braved Arctic conditions to complete the challenging course in under 2 hours 8 minutes.
