St Helens Sutton runners perform well in Striders five-miler

THE week was something of a quiet one for St Helens Sutton.

Saturday saw Collette Flaherty take on the aptly named 'Short Circuit' 50km Ultra trail marathon over in Yorkshire, finishing fifth lady overall with a fantastic time of 8 hours 3 minutes.

On Sunday and closer to home Sutton took to the St Helens Striders five-mile, which was brilliantly organised as always, by the fellow St Helens club.

First home and breaking his own course record set in 2016, by around 20 seconds was Matt Crehan, who was followed home by quickly returning to form Tom Griffiths in third place.

Sutton shot putter Ian Conway also took the gruelling trails along with Janet Holmes and Mark Liptrot.
