ST HELENS Striders had a massive turn out on Sunday to the start of the cross country season with many new faces trying the first race out held at Clarke Gardens.

JonJo Doherty was first strider to finish and 6th overall followed by Pete Fairclough in second and David Wilson third Male strider back.

The ladies meanwhile saw Rachael Fairclough first female strider and also finish in third position overall with Kelly Hamilton second female back and still within the top 10 overall finishes in fifth place; whilst Emma Callery was the third female strider back.

Overall the positions have started off the season with the ladies team in third currently and the men in seventh position.

Meanwhile Ben Lawrenson completed the hilly and cold Bradford half marathon in 2:38:34.
