Prescot get return to North West top flight off to a winning start

Prescot Men 5 Bebington 3.

PRESCOT returned to competitive action in the North West top division for the first time in 15 years.

The opening fixture was a real tough game with Bebington having been relegated from the North league and looking to bounce straight back up.

The Wirral side took the early initiative and scored from an early break. However, this spurred Prescot into life and Mortimer bagged a quick-fire hattrick for Prescot before Jobes added a fourth before half time.

The second half saw Boulton put Prescot five one up and the game to bed. Credit to Bebington who never gave up and scored a couple of late goals. Next week Prescot travel to the Lakes to take on Keswick.

Prescot Men 2s 2 Bolton 2

The men's twos travelled to Bolton looking to build on a decent pre season. Prescot had most of the play with Jones and Foster going close. the Bolton keeper pulled off a string of saves before a Bolton breakaway resulted in a deflected shot being given as a goal. Prescot rallied and Keith Jones buried a short corner right on half time. In the second half Craig Jones scored a sublime goal after great work from Terence Maguire down the right. Prescot looked to extend their lead and dominated for long periods hitting the post and working the Bolton keeper before a defensive lapse gifted Bolton their equaliser. A decent point away from home and Prescot take on very local rivals St Helens next week.

Junior Coaching and training for boys and girls every Wednesday at Sutton Leisure 7pm. Senior training 8pm.
