St Helens Striders have a varied week of activities

The Wigan 10k was a local race and was a great team turnout with 17 participating. Some special mentions.

First male to cross the line was Jon-Jo Doherty in 35:21 whilst joint first female Striders to finish was Nicola Howarth and Carol Foster in 51:17. In addition Pete Medlicott broke the 45 minute gap at the Wigan 10k in a PB time of 44:27.

The Merseyside Grand Prix also held one of its races on Sunday being the Halewood 5k. A fantastic turnout helped the male team with their 5th position whilst the ladies are holding 3rd place. Jon-Jo Doherty was first strider over the line with a new PB of 16:43 whilst Racheal Fairclough was first female strider in 19:24.

Also for this week, Salford 10k was compleated by Gary Eccleston in 58:23 and Nicola Donovan in 59:49.

The Lakeland trail 15k was completed by 3 striders: Mike Brunt, Joanne Jackson and Angela Jones.

An extra special mention covers from last weekend some of the striders took off from their feet and hopped on to two wheels to complete the famous coast to coast cycle.

14 riders left from Whitehaven on Sat 26th Aug, covering 140 miles in 3 days to the finish the coast to coast challenge in Tynemouth on Mon 28th Aug. The strider riders involved were: Joanne Jackson, Mike Brunt, Paddy Lee, Gill Lee, Tony Horsfall, Simon Poole, Steve Wright, Gary Spriggs, Frank McAllister, Brian Middleton, Chris Watson, Mary Abbott, Geoffrey Hunter and Nicola Howarth.
