St Helens Sutton athletes chalk up 13 PBs

THE weekend saw the final track meet of the season for St Helens Sutton athletes, with 14 athletes making the journey to the cold, wet Deeside Stadium. But weather aside the team came away with some fantastic performances and a total of 13 Personal Bests achieved.

In the Under 11 age group, Poppy Handley Hicking gained two PBs in the 600m and long jump, while Gabriel Mullin also gained two PB

s in 150m and soft javelin. Saul Hockenhull, Liam Johnson and Joseph Colley all put in promising performances as they look top move up to Under 13 age group next year.

While in the current U13 age bracket, Elenor Gaskell came away with two PBs in the 200m and shot, while Jessica Bainstow gained an impressive three PBs in the 200m, shot and 1200m. In the Under 15 class Lauren Taylor gained two PBs over the long jump and discus, while Elizebeth Greenall through a life time best in the discus and Celine Virton strung three solid performance together in the 200m, discus and long lump.

Luca Noonan just missed out on PBs in both the 100m and shot, while Adam Loughran gained a PB in the shot and put in a solid performance in 100m, alongside Michael Duffy, who also competed over the 800m and shot, showing a great range. The only senior to compete, Julia Hayes, put in a solid performance in the hammer.

While on the roads and slightly more local, a trio of athletes competed at the Wigan 10k, with Amy Corfield finishing 3rd in her category in a time of 42:55, followed further down the field by the duo of Rachel Beesley (48:42) and Rachel Wilcox (52:16).
