Rounders reports round-up

AFTER suffering with a depleted team against Wild Cats and losing 5:3, Pilkington Crusaders travelled to Haydock CC last week with a full team and, winning the toss, chose to field.

The depleted home team was dismissed in 14 balls for 2. Carrol Whittaker scored the only full rounder with ½’s from Sarah Booth & Sharon Green.

In reply, Crusaders face 32 balls and declared on 11½ with full rounders from Lorna Brookes (2), Julie Murray (2), Clare Ellis (2) and Jen Hobson: 1/2’s were added by Lorna (2), Katie Brookes (2), Clarice Mitchinson (2), Lucy Taylor, Clare and Jen.

Requiring 10 to force Crusaders into a 2nd innings was too much for the home side.

They were dismissed for 1½ in 19 balls with another full rounder from Carrol and a ½ from Sharon.

The following evening, Canterbury Belles faced Pilkington Centurions at Ruskin Drive and, winning the toss, put the home team in.

Despite facing 37 balls, they were dismissed for 2½ (including a penalty ½ for a late start) with a full rounder plus a ½ from Katie Devine and a ½ from Donna Jackson.

In reply, Belles faced just 17 balls and scored 1½ with a ½ each from Kayley Bailey, Sue Smith (for consecutive no-balls) & Lauren Greensmith.

In their second innings, Centurions faced 27 balls and doubled their score with a full rounder from Donna and ½’s from Carole Foster, Gemma Lenahan and Kerry Owen.

Requiring 4 to win, Belles faced 31 balls and lost only three lives in reaching their target with ½’s from Jayne Twist (3), Bev Whyment, Talitha Whyment, Sue and Annie Fogarty plus a ½ for obstruction.
