Causer, Crehan and Scott impress at Northern Counties
THREE of St Helens Sutton A.C.’s senior men put in good performances in the Northern Counties Senior and Junior Men’s Championships held in Manchester’s Sports City.
The best individual performance was that of Michael Causer who won the Senior Men’s long jump with a leap of 7.28m.
Causer is returning back to competing after a three year break and is hoping to get back to National level during the summer.
Darren Scott (V45) competed in both sprints running 100m in 11.44secs. and the 200m. in 22.90secs; both season’s best times.
The third competitor was men’s captain, Matt Crehan who finished in seventh place in the 5,000m with a personal best time of 15 min.7.42 secs.
Gregg Williams ran in the Bolton Hill Half-marathon which describes itself as one of the toughest half-marathons in the world and should be very proud of finishing in third place with a time of 98 min.00 secs. Competing over a longer distance was senior lady Catherine Leather, who finished 34th lady in the Astley Park Trail event in Chorley with a time of 40 min.44 secs.
Nine club members took part in the Merseyside Schools Championships at Bebington.
Michael Farr ran the 100m in 12secs and the 200m in 24.5secs, Charlie Roberts ran the 800m in 2 min.11 secs, Michael Brussels smashed his PB by 11 seconds in the 1500m with his time of 4 min.52.9 secs, and Michael Dobson ran the 800m in 2 min.22 secs (PB).
Emma Eccles ran the 100m in 13.8secs. and the 75m hurdles in 12.9secs, Lauren Taylor ran the 100m in 15.4secs and the 200m in 31.2secs, Elizabeth Greenall ran the 75m hurdles in 12.7secs and long jumped 4.20m, Celine Virton put the shot 7.24m and threw the discus 19.73m. (PB) and Ella Cooper ran the 75m in 13.1secs and long jumped 2.95m.
