Rounders season gets under way in St Helens

THE new rounders season got underway with the Pilkington Nat West Tournament at Ruskin Drive. Four of the six league teams took part - Canterbury Belles, Haydock CC, Pilkington Centurions and Pilkington Crusaders.

Haydock took the winners' cup for the third year running on rounders difference, with Belles in second place.

The League's fixtures got under way at Ruskin Drive on Tuesday with Crusaders beating Belles in the Cup 9 1/2 : 6 1/2 and Pilkington Vikings beating Haydock 10 1/2 : 4 1/2 in the League.

On Wednesday Wild Cats, away at Clock Face Miners, beat Belles in the League 13 : 9.
