THIS cold wet and frosty weather is playing havoc with fishing just now making every match a scratcher for those taking part, next Sunday see’s the Upper pound high peg numbers in use at Hay lock end of the Upper pound to look for improved catches.

The members Sunday sweepstake, Sankey canal, Upper pound, (20 pegs)

Sunday 20th Nov.

1. Ian Wilson (N-le-W), peg 8, 1-2-8, roach on pole and pinkie

2. Mark Brown (N-le-W), peg 9, 0-8-0, roach on pole and pinkie

3. John Bates (St. Helens), peg 7, 0-2-8, roach.

The Disabled & Over Sixties Members Weekly Match, Haydock Park Farm ,Lagoon, (18 pegs)

Again the frosty nights and colder water seems to have slowed sport down even on this prolific fishery making the match very hard for those who took part.

1st Jimmy Corkish, (St Helens) peg 5, with bream, small carp and skimmers to pole and punch for 9-12-0.

2nd Bill Aston, (Golborne) peg 7 with skimmers to pole and caster for 3-11-0.

3rd Jeff Stirrat, (Aintree) peg 1 with skimmers and roach to pole and punch for 2-10-0.
