From 40 milers to 10k St Helens Striders have a busy weekend
The St Helens Strider weekend of running began early on Saturday morning with the Warrington Way Ultra, a 40 mile race across Warrington.
Kevin Brennan was the 5th runner overall finishing in a time of 5:59, with Paddy Lee finishing in 8:35 Gill Lee, Joanne Jackson, Carol Foster and Nicola Howarth took part in the relay race, each taking on a 10 mile leg each of the Ultra course. They finished 3rd overall and first ladies team in the relay section in a time of 6:40.
There were more St Helens Striders running in Warrington at the Cheshire 10k, running around Arley Hall.
The first Strider home was Sharon O’Connell in 54:03,followed by Mark Fillingham in 55:01, Mike Cox in 56:58 and Helen Duncan in 59:58.
On Sunday morning Sue Heaps and Jenny Martin travelled to Lancashire to take part in the Windmill 10k finishing together in 49:48. Closer to home the club fielded 14 runners at Beacon Park Cross Country, Skelmersdale. The mens team finished 11th out of 19 teams, whilst the ladies finished 17 out of 19 teams for this event.
St Helens Striders went international with Katie Taggart taking part in Griffith Park Trail half marathon in Los Angeles on Saturday and Tony and Louise Padmore running the Rock n Roll Las Vegas half marathon on Sunday. Unfortunately finishing times were not available at this time.
