A TRIO of St Helens Striders headed for the Northern Lakes in Cumbria on Saturday to take part in the Lakeland Trials 15km trail race.

Jeanette Fisher, Andy Fisher and Claire Blennerhassett completed the challenging Cumbrian course together in a time of 1:40.

Saturday night saw the Striders head for Delamere Forest to take part in the Delamere Nightrunner 10k.

The group included Gill Lee, Gary Spriggs, Rebecca McKenna, Ruth Besford, Marie Chesworth, Kerry Riley and Anita Hall.

On a wet Sunday morning Kevin Brennan took on the White Rose 30 mile ultra in Yorkshire finishing in 5hrs 15 mins.

A little further afield Tony Dagnall completed the New York Marathon in 3:56:25.
