First win for Prescot

PRESCOT Ladies collected a first victory of the season in the North Women’s League when they beat back-markers Bowdon thirds on Saturday.

First-half goals from Sophie Fairhurst and Steph Heaps put the visitors in control and, despite their hosts pulling a goal back, they held on comfortably to move off the bottom of the Division Two South West table.

Lucy Corless netted the only goal against Bury’s seconds to help Prescot Ladies’ seconds continue an unbeaten start in the Greater Manchester Women’s League’s Division Two.

They dominated from start to finish, and occupy first place in the standings after six matches.

Prescot’s men did not have a goalkeeper for the first 20 minutes of their encounter with Crewe Vagrants’ seconds after he was held up in traffic - along with several teammates - on the way to their North West League fixture.

Once the visitors’ full complement arrived in south Cheshire, they ran out comfortable 2-0 victors thanks to goals from Si Boulton and Chris Lomax.

Prescot host Neston South Wirral’s seconds this Saturday, push back 2.30pm.
