Trio of St Helens Sutton runners take part in TrailFfest trail half marathon
THREE senior St Helens Sutton A.C. men travelled into North Wales to take part in the TrailFfest trail half marathon on Saturday 24 September.
The event was a fund raiser for the Welsh air ambulance and South Snowdonia search and rescue team and starts with a train ride from the finish at Porthmadog Ffestiniog railway station to the start at Tanygriseau, beneath the Moelwyn peaks.
The start is at 700ft above sea level and with the finish at the coast it sounds a nice easy course.
But there are some very steep and challenging climbs along the way culminating in a mile run over the Cob with the finish in sight but seemingly never getting any nearer.
Andy Wilson finished in 6th place in 1 hr.47 min.30 secs, Mark Liptrot claimed 1st M50 and 14th place in 1 hr.55 min.21 secs. and Greg Carns finished 35th in 2 hrs.08 min.10 secs..
