PRESCXOT Swimming Club travelled to Blackpool Palatine Leisure Centre on Sunday with a team aged 9 to 12 years for the final Division C Micro League North West Gala.

After taking three wins from the first 3 galas the team was fully motivated to add a 4th win and so secure top spot in the division and with it a Division B Swim Off at Blackpool in September.

The final gala featured teams from Blackpool, Lytham St Anne’s and Garstang and started where the team left off in the previous three rounds with 12 first places from the first 15 events.

This almost perfect start continued throughout the gala with some top draw racing from both the girls’ and boys’ teams taking top places on the touch from some determined opposition.

The girls team showed their dominance throughout the gala by taking a total of 21 first places from 24 races and were well supported by the Boys team who although weakened by some absences and illness still managed to return a majority of 1st and 2nd places throughout the gala.

Notable performances came from Katie Rawnsley, Ella Roberts, and Grace Rhead who all took maximum points in every individual swim they did and a special mention goes to Chris Bellard who took 1st places in both his own age group and the age group above.

The final score gave Prescot the win on 167pts from Garstang on 135pts, Lytham on 101 and Blackpool on 72pts.

A note of thanks should go the coaching team from Prescot Club and Squad as without their volunteer help and assistance these results could not be possible.

This fantastic 1st place finish was a result of lots of hard work and training by these young swimmers who are all members of Prescot’s successful club and squad that trains at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park and Parr Pools 7 days a week.

The squad is open to swimmers from any club for more information see www.prescotswimmingclub.org or email info@prescotswimmingclub.org.
