ON Saturday night four St Helens Striders took on the marathon distance around Kielder Reservoir in Northumbria. They circumnavigated the reservoir at night in heavy rain and strong winds.

Gary Spriggs was the first to finish followed by Simon Poole, with Ruth Besford and Anita Hall finishing together shortly afterwards.

On Sunday morning Mike Cox travelled to Cumbria to participate in Ulverston Triathlon. Mike battled bad weather to complete the three disciplines in a personal best of 1:54.

Also on Sunday morning a number of Striders completed the Hale 5 mile race.

The first Strider to finish was Jon-Jo Doherty in 29:39 followed by Neil Hunter in 33:29, Danny Fegan in 34:02, Paul Dowdle in 34:39, Pauline Horsfall in 36:35, Tony Horsfall in 36:50, Les Abbott in 37:14, Alex Abbott in 38:08, Cheryl Orrick in 38:09, Wendy Davies in 38:37, Anthony Young in 40:03, Joanne Keogh in 44:36, Vanessa Leyland and Colin Leyland finishing together in 54:04.
