Striders compete a mixture of long-distance events

A WEEK after St.Helens 10k Striders were out again across a mixture of events round the country.

An early start in the Peak District saw the gang take part in the 21 mile Grindleford Gallop. First to finish was Richard Seville in 3:05:29 followed by fellow striders: Anita Hall, Debs Hill, Gary Spriggs, Gemma Webster, Ian Wright, Jade Booth, Joanne Jackson, Jono Kirkman, Kev Outten, Louise Padmore, Mike Brunt, Neil Hobbit, Paul Hargate, Ruth Besford, Simon Poole, Tony Horsfall and Victoria Keogh. (Alphabetical order due to results not available at time of writing.)

Rachael Fairclough also represented Merseyside in the cross country championships finishing in 34:33.

Sunday was a great day for running with great weather conditions (compared to last year) and saw Striders taking part in a choice of Liverpool vitality events.

First across the line for the half marathon was Danny Fegan in 1:33:18 followed by: Harriet Glover 1:37:00, Kyle Maguire 1:39:47, Jeanette Fisher 1:42:03, Cherryl Orrick 1:47:02, Elizabeth Jones 1:54:59, Joanne Keogh 2:02:53, Colin Wilson 2:04:13 and Andy Fisher 2:22:21.

New this year was the 10mile option which saw Claire Lindsay finish first in 1:21:47 followed by: Rebecca McKenna 1:31:02, Nicola Howarth 1:28:48 and Rachel Simm 2:01:12.

Neil Rigby also completed Silverstone half marathon in 2:06:50 and Sharon OConnell the Bispham 10 mile in 1:27:26.
