ST HELENS judoka Owen Livesey (-81kg) enjoyed a successful weekend taking home bronze at the Buenos Aires Pan American Open on Sunday 13 March.

It was his second bronze medal in as many weeks as he recovered from a semi-final defeat to Nacif Elias (LIB) to get the better of Cuba’s Ivan Felipe Silva Morales in the bronze medal match scoring for waza-ari and yuko.

Livesey said: “I am happy with the way I'm fighting at the moment. It would have been good to make a final this weekend but to pick up two bronzes back to back ain't too bad and something to kick on from for the European Championships.”

Owen’s sister Amy was also in action over the weekend coming fifth at the Casablanca African Open on Saturday.
