Mike Goulbourne places inside top 50 at Snowdonia Marathon

ST HELENS Tri have enjoyed an excellent opening fortnight of results as the winter training season starts.

At the scenic Helwith Bridge Duathlon in the Yorkshire Dales, Robert Chesters achieved his best multi-sport result to date – finishing in fourth position less than 45 seconds away from the podium.

Three members took on two very different races with superb results.

Kevin Dunbar overcame wet and windy conditions at the St Helens Parkrun to take second place on debut in 19mins 58secs, while Mike Goulbourne and Eddie Hirst attempted the Snowdonia Marathon.

Goulbourne followed up his recent strong performance as first club counter at the Woodbank Park cross country race in fine style, clocking 3hrs 7mins 36secs to place inside the top 50, while Hirst finished 152nd in a time less than 20 minutes behind the club’s leading runner.
