Former Saints boss to take over at Newcastle Knights
FORMER Saints coach Nathan Brown will take the reins at Newcastle Knights, it has been announced.
Brown, who won the Super League Grand Final in his last game with Saints last year, will take over at the struggling NRL club from Rick Stone who was sacked in July.
Brown has been working as a coaching consultant with the Melbourne Storm this year.
It marks a return to NRL first team coaching for the 42-year-old, who was head coach at the St George-Illawarra Dragons for five years before he moved to England to take over at Huddersfield Giants in 2009.
Former player Danny Buderus has been in charge of the Newcastle team in a caretaker capacity since Stone's sacking, and former Saints centre Matt Gidley is the club's chief executive.
Brown joined Saints in 2013, finishing off his two-year spell with a Grand Final victory last October.
