Personal bests for athletes at Connagh's Quay
St Helens Sutton A.C. turned out a depleted team for the first Cheshire League meeting of the track season at Connah's Quay, Deeside.
The club only having ten athletes competing in the events, of which two athletes represented the club for the first time and nine personal bests were achieved.
For the Under11years girls, newcomers Olivia Byrom and Hannah Shaw-Binns both competed in the 75m.
Byrom won her race with a time of 12.5secs which was a personal best and Shaw-Binns finished third in her race in 14.5secs also a PB!
Hollie Brussels achieved PBs in the soft javelin (11.40m.) and long jump (2.89m.) and also finished in 3rd place in the 75m in 13.4secs and ran in the 600m. Michael Dobson also ran excellently, running 12.4secs in the 75m and led from the start of his 600m. to the finish in 2 min.01.8 secs.
Amber Escoffery competed in the U13s girls 800m running a gutsy race to finish in 3 min.08.2 secs.
U13s boy, Michael Brussels who competed for the club on his birthday, achieved two PBs! Running 33.7sec in the 200m and 2 min.51 secs for the 800m. Charlie Roberts ran 2 min.49.2 secs. in the 800m.
Representing the U15s girls, Caitlin Young ran 13.8secs in the 100m and she also threw the shot 7.37m which was a personal best but also beat the best of the boys.
Maria and Rachel McGoldrick both competed in the senior ladies 1500m race.
Rachel finished 1st in 5 min.01 secs which was personal best and Maria also achieved a PB with her time of 5 min.27 secs to finish 4th.
