Champions at West Cheshire Open

A SUCCESSFUL West Cheshire Open saw two Rainford tennis players scoop trophies at Upton Tennis Club in Wirral.

Cameron Ashley-Jones took the 12 and under boys’ singles title with a 6-3, 6-2 win against second seed Ben Leeman from Cheshire in the final.

Erin Scott also picked up a trophy as she became the nine and under girls’ singles champion, beating Anna Jones in three sets in the final.

Maisie Lavelle reached the final of the 10 and under girls’ singles while Phoebe Mitchell finished third in the nine and under girls’ singles.

“We would like to congratulate all our Rainford players on their success so far this summer,” said Rainford director of tennis, Steve Vincent.

The 2013 St Helens Tennis Tournament, sponsored by North West Waste Consultants, started at Rainford Tennis Club on Monday and runs until Friday, with spectators invited to attend.
