KARA Heaton is celebrating winning a national competition.

The 15-year-old Bold Heath gymnast marked her annual progress by being crowned seniors champion in the British Challenge Cup event held in Guildford.

Heaton, a final-year pupil at Hope Academy, Newton, placed first on beam, second on bars and eighth on floor to take the title.

She has trained with Warrington Gymnastics Club for more than 10 years, training tirelessly four to five nights per week in her bid to win the British Challenge Cup – a qualifying competition for the British Championships.
