ST HELENS schoolboy Raheem Sterling scored five times as Liverpool U18s stormed into the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
Watched by Kenny Dalglish, 16-year-old Sterling was the star of a 9-0 win over Southend United at Anfield. The England under 18s winger was signed by the Reds from QPR in London last year and has since attended Rainhill High, while also training with the club’s academy.
Sterling netted a brace and Conor Coady, from Haydock, fired home a penalty spot before the midway point of the first half.
He completed his hat-trick on 35 minutes before adding his fourth on 56 minutes and fifth on 85 minutes.
Sterling, who has been nominated for an elite sport performance prize at the St Helens Cultural Awards, and Coady were both recently handed senior squad numbers as a reward for their progress.
