TOMMY Makinson says that his try scoring debut was a “dream come true” after he came off the bench to help England to victory over the Kiwis in Denver.
He slotted in at centre, midway through the first half, sending Elliot Whitehead in for a try and then scoring one himself in the 36-18 victory.
And after enduring some tough times in the past, when injury has forced him out of the England reckoning, Makinson felt he deserved the shot which he grabbed with both hands.
He said: “I probably could not dream of a better debut, but reckon I deserve it.
“I have been through some tough times and some good times and think I deserve this.
“I was given an opportunity by Wayne (Bennett), he stuck me on there with 15-20 minutes to go in the first half and I did myself proud.
“I really enjoyed where I was playing and everybody could see that I was enjoying it.
“This bunch has been fantastic with me all week – and a lot of credit goes to these guys because whoever comes in, they make you fell at home and that is what I was.”
Thanks to everyone for there messages! Great end to the week with a great set off lads. Loved every minute ✈️👍🏼🔥🙌🏻 pic.twitter.com/y99Bprjjhq

His try came 14 minutes from time – and he showed obvious delight at the time and after the hooter.
“I literally could not have dreamed of anything else. It is a cliché, but it is what dreams are made of. I get emotional but it is everything I have ever wanted.
“I will never ever forget this – for me, my family and teammates it has been special.
“It has been a great week and hopefully we can come back here and do it all again,” he said.
