The RFL has appointed forensic financial and legal expert Nigel Roberts as the sport’s Head of Salary Cap and Registrations.
Roberts, who hails from Eccles, currently works for Manchester-based criminal defence solicitors Stephen Lickrish and Associates and will take up his new role in early November.
He has significant expertise in white collar fraud, commercial fraud, money laundering and regulatory cases.
RFL Chief Operating Officer Ralph Rimmer said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Nigel to the organisation: his considerable experience in the financial and legal worlds will enhance the operation and policing of the Rugby League salary caps as the sport enters an exciting new era.”
Nigel Roberts said: “"This is a tremendous opportunity to work within a sport I have followed for many years.
"I am absolutely delighted to be joining the RFL at such an exciting time and I am looking forward immensely to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, both in the short and long terms."
