I STOPPED and spoke to a lady called Polly in Taylor Park the other morning whilst out exercising our dogs (social distancing respected of course) as I was so impressed with her.

She was collecting lots of rubbish using bin bags, a litter picker and gloves.
She was so positive, kind and upbeat.

(I have noticed , generally speaking, that the level of kindness seems to have dipped during these hard times as lots of people are too frightened to say Good Morning or even smile).

This lady told me that she had previously left the park frustrated at the way cups, cans and wrappers had been left strewn over the park’s grassed and woodland areas.

She had decided to act positively and take action herself even in these difficult times – whilst combining it with her daily exercise.

I was so impressed by her efforts that I spoke with the council warden who happened to be in the park.

The vast majority of the park users and dog walkers are very responsible and it’s a shame that a minority repeatedly throw their waste to ruin the beautiful area.

This has included groups who have left instant BBQs on the ‘big field’ still hot and loaded with uneaten sausages etc (causing a dangerous fire hazard, a health hazard for dogs and an attraction for vermin).
