SAINTS star Paul Wellens went back to school to meet some of tomorrow’s sporting prospects.
Wello grew up overlooking the playing fields at De La Salle, in Eccleston, and was invited back to open the school’s new full-size artificial turf pitch.
Paul remembers spending many happy hours sharpening his rugby skills on the fields there.
The new all-weather facility is designed to accommodate football and has a full-size hockey pitch, which will allow this sport to be played to the highest standard.
The school is delighted with its new facility and Will Daunt, De La Salle head teacher, thanked St Helens Council for its support.
The pitch will be available for hire in the near future, and any inquiries should be directed to the school.
