A COUPLE with a passion for helping others have launched a studio to help improve physical and emotional wellbeing.

Odell and Nassim Lewis, creators of ON Pilates, have opened the Reformer Plates studio at The Meadows, at Ruskin Sports Village.

The married couple moved from Essex just before the Covid pandemic hit and live in the Carr Mill area.

After getting through the "tough time" of the pandemic, Odell and Nassim have decided to follow their passion and launch the premises at the Dentons Green site.

Nassim, 45, has been teaching classes for more than six years and says she really enjoys helping people to feel better about themselves and being a motivator while also keeping things fun at the same time.

She adds her passion is Reformer Pilates as well as walking her dog.

Meanwhile, Odell, 43, has more than 20 years of experience as a person trainer and class instructor and now concentrates on classes to improve flexibility and strengthen posture muscles to decrease back and neck pain and improve the core.

“We are super excited to start and get going,” said Nassim at the launch.

“And to meet all the people and explain what Reformers are all about, because a lot of people don’t really know much about Reformers and what it does.

“I am just excited to share my passion.”

The Reformer is an apparatus that can provide a full-body workout, helping with strength, flexibility, and toning and sculpting the entire body.

"There are different ways you can use the Reformer," added Nassim.

"It can be used as cardio equipment, can be used for rehabilitation, or it can be used for strength training.

"A lot of athletes such as footballers or rugby players use Reformer Pilates to work on their muscles and bodies, and to prevent injuries."

ON Pilates held a launch at its Ruskin base on Sunday, April 21, which gave people the opportunity to chat and ask questions and view some demonstrations.

The classes to be held will also include meditation and sound baths to help enhance emotional wellbeing and tranquility, in addition to the physical exercises.

The studio will also benefit from its location at Ruskin, Nassim added.

“We’re in the sports village and people can do a class and then go for a coffee or a meal in the other facilities.”
