FIREFIGHTERS rushed to the scene of a van on fire around Haydock Island this morning.
Residents reported that traffic and delays were building up around one of the town's busiest junctions this morning (Wednesday, November 29).
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that fire crews attended the scene, which took around 50 minutes to fully clear.
Fire crews then handed the scene over to Merseyside Police, while no injuries have been reported.

A spokesperon said: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident this morning at Ashton Road, Haydock.
"Crews were alerted at 7.42am and one fire engine was on scene at 7.50am.
"On arrival the crew found one van well alight. One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet under general observation to fight the fire.
"The fire was soon extinguished and the crew remained on scene to dampen down.
"At 8.39am the crew handed the scene over to Merseyside Police and left."
