THE death of a man whose body was found on a River Mersey mud bank earlier this week is being treated as 'non-suspicious', police have confirmed.
On Monday evening (October 2) police were alerted by HM Coastguard that a body had been found on the shoreline off Riverside Drive, Crosby.
Coastguard rescue teams from Crosby and Wirral responded to the incident at around 7.20pm.
No more details have been released on the man, who was in his 60s.
A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We were notified by HM Coastguard that the body of a man in his 60s had been located on a mudbank near to Riverside Drive on Monday (October 2).
"The man’s next of kin have been made aware.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
