THERE is a lane closure on the M62 from Rainhill Stoops after a van was on fire.
The closure from junction seven to junction six this afternoon, Wednesday, August 16, has been in place after emergency crews attended the blaze earlier this afternoon.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended the incident on the M62 westbound near Rainhill Stoops.
A MFRS spokeswoman said: "Crews were alerted at 1.54pm and on scene at 1.56pm. Three fire engines attended.
"Crews arrived to find a van involved in fire. The fire was soon extinguished and crews treated the driver for slight smoke inhalation.
"The occupant was handed over to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to be checked over."
She added: "Crews remained on the scene to manage traffic. The scene was handed over to the Highways Agency upon their arrival and crews left the scene at 3.14pm."

Live traffic tracker INRIX stated as of 3.45pm: "One lane closed due to vehicle fire on M62 Westbound from J7 A57 Warrington Road (Rainhill Stoops) to J6 M57 J1 (Tarbock Island).
"Traffic is coping well."
