A POLICE investigation is ongoing after a man's body was found in an alleyway.
The discovery was made at Gregson Road, Prescot on Friday.
A heavy police presence has been reported in the area throughout today.
Officers say the death is being "treated as unexplained" at this stage.
In a statement Merseyside Police said: "An investigation is underway following the discovery of a man's body in Prescot yesterday (Friday, 21 July).
"Officers were called to an alleyway of Gregson Road, Prescot after a member of the public found the body.
"At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem is being carried out to establish the cause of death.
"The deceased has not been formally identified."
