THE M62 was closed in both directions tonight after a lorry fire.
Police say the motorway was shut between Rainhill and Burtonwood following the blaze.
It was initially closed both ways, but the westbound carriageways have since reopened.
Police shared an image of the lorry engulfed by flames.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area at this time.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service reported that it has two engines at the scene.

According to reports the driver was out of the cab when firefighters arrived.

Witnesses report seeing flames, and black smoke billowing into the sky. There are also loud bangs from the site of the fire.
