FIRE crews were called after a car became engulfed in flames this afternoon, Friday (December 16).
Firefighters extinguished the blaze on Prescot Road shortly before 2.30pm today.
It is understood the fire started accidentally, the fire and rescue service said.

A spokeswoman said: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Prescot Road, St Helens, on Friday, December 16.
"Crews were alerted at 2.14pm and on scene at 2.21pm. One fire engine attended. Merseyside Police also attended.
"On arrival crews found one vehicle involved in fire.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a high pressure hose reel.
"It is believed the fire started accidentally.
"Fire crews left the scene at 2.44pm."
