A STRETCH of the M62 has re-opened following an overnight lorry fire.

The incident took place between junction 8 at Gemini and junction 7 for Rainhill Stoops.

The road was closed while crews tackled the blaze.

All lanes on the M62 westbound are now open. 

At around 10.20am cones were lifted following a clean-up of the road surface and traffic was released by 10.35am.

Diversions were originally put in place around Bold Heath.

It led to significant traffic congestion.
