A LIGHT aircraft crashed in a field near a farm on Sunday evening.
The plane landed in a tree at Kenyon Hall Farm at around 6pm, near Winwick - just a short distance from Newton-le-Willows.
The pilot, in his mid-70s, was trapped inside and fire crews worked with paramedics to free him.
An air ambulance was sent to the scene along with an ambulance, five rapid response units and three Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) vehicles.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said he suffered minor injuries and was taken to Warrington District General Hospital.
The Civil Aviation Authority has been informed and the Air Accident Investigation Branch are looking into the cause of the incident.
