A LITTLE boy has had his dreams come true after landing a role in a CBBC adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s book Katy.
Jude Riordan, from Lea Green, is starring as Little Phil, the cheeky and playful brother of the title character in the book, after he made an impression while starring in Channel 4’s The Secret Life of five-year-olds last year.
After the show the The LIPA and St John Vianney pupil received several calls from agents and his mum Kellie and dad Paul decided that this role on a children’s TV network was the perfect way to start.
Katy tells the story of a blended family and a young heroine who is struggling to adjust to her new life - but then an accident changes it forever.
The third and final instalment of the adaptation will air on Tuesday, March 27 but all three episodes are available on BBC iPlayer to view.
His mum Kellie, 38, said: “The Secret Life of five-year-olds to us was just a fun way of being able to see how our son acted when we aren’t around.
“But he is a happy chappy and we received continuous calls from agents asking him to get involved in acting.
“He really enjoyed it and it’s totally down to Jude what he does and doesn’t do, as long he enjoys it we will encourage him to do it and find opportunities like this for him.”
The mini series was filmed in a disused school in Manchester in September and stars other child actors with Chloe Lea taking the title role.
“He just really enjoyed being a part of the whole thing and I was so proud of him learning his lines and he is lovely and lively in the part,” added Kellie, who is also mum to Zach 10.
“All the cast were wonderful with him and he enjoyed it so much that he wants to act more in the future.
“As long as he’s happy we’ll help him get there.
“It would mean alot if people tune in a watch Jude in his debut acting role.”
