FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car fire in the town centre this afternoon.
A blaze broke out in a vehicle on the car park outside the Royal Alfred pub. Firefighters spent around 20 minutes tackling the blaze.
A spokesman for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called out at 12.15pm and we were there until 12.35pm.
"Firefighters put the fire out with a hose reel jet. The fire was from the engine compartment. It doesn't seem to have any suspicious circumstances and there were no injuries."
