GOLFERS are invited to swing into action to help raise funds for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

In its second year, the St Helens Sports Development Youth Sports Programme Golf Day is organised in partnership with the SPF and takes place at Houghwood Golf Club.

The day sees an 18-hole fourball contest, which sees the two best scores count for each hole. However, there is also a twist with four mystery holes seeing all four scores recorded.

Last year, more than £2,500 was raised and split between the Youth Sport Programme and the SPF, enabling young people to access fitness activities with qualified tutors for free.

The price for this year's golf day is £160 per team (£40 per person), which includes a bacon roll with tea or coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf - and a meal following the end of play.

Fantastic prizes will be awarded to the overall winners and various mini-competitions will run throughout the day, such as nearest the pin and longest drive.

The day will be rounded off with a presentation ceremony followed by a raffle and auction, with many great prizes up for grabs.

Martin Blondel, SPF general manager, said: “The Steve Prescott Foundation is delighted to continue to work in partnership with the Youth Sports Programme and hopes the golf day is a huge success at the beautiful Houghwood Golf Club.”

The event takes place on Friday, May 13 and teams are requested to register before the day. Sign-in will be open on the day from 11am for a 1pm shotgun start.
