A MOTHER-OF-FIVE who was found dead on wasteland killed herself by taking an overdose, an inquest heard.
Police discovered the body of Angela Edwards, 38, in bushes near her Cromdale Grove home in Parr.
Officers arrested her husband Stephen Edwards, 38, on suspicion of murder, but he was released and fully cleared of the charges.
An inquest at St Helens Town Hall was told Mrs Edwards, who had a history of bipolar disorder and epilepsy, lived with her husband with whom she had a “volatile relationship”.
Two days before her body was found, she told a neighbour she had been assaulted by her husband. That was the last time she is known to have been seen.
Police found evidence of blood on a sofa and door at the couple’s home and arrested Mr Edwards, who denied any wrongdoing.
A police search team found her body at around 5pm on September 20.
Home Office forensic pathologist Dr Alison Armour, who carried out the post mortem, said there was no indication Mrs Edwards had suffered violence or trauma.
A report found she had drunk alcohol and taken prescription drugs, this led to her death.
Describing it as a “tragic case”, Coroner Christopher Sumner recorded a verdict of suicide.
He said: “It was clear she concealed herself in the area with the intention of not being found for a considerable time.
She spent a long time writing a long letter by text to her family.”
A police investigation concluded no third party was involved in the death.
