LABOUR held the Windle ward of St Helens Council following a by-election yesterday.
David Baines (Labour) polled 1,329 of the votes, with Robert Stephen Reynolds (Conservative) 612 and Francis Joseph Williams (The Green Party) 345.
The election was called following the death of Councillor Pat Martinez-Williams.
Turn out was 28.2per cent.
